Thank you to Jenny Deakin who invited me and parti-poodle,
Twizzle, to demonstrate heelwork to music as part of the Paws N Music team for
The Kennel Club “Dog Activities” at Crufts 2010. This year was also Twizzle's
debut in the Main Arena and we had a great time strutting our
stuff!
Many
thanks to Louise Ince and Sarah Reed from Paws In Motion who travelled all the
way from Kent to be guest heelwork to music instructors at Hackleton,
Northamptonshire. We had high expectations and you certainly
delivered! Your enthusiasm is contagious and you won many new
fans!!
Many
thanks to Gloria Bonnell from
the Border Collie Club who roped in Annette Leslie to organize a
heelwork to
music demonstration for the ann
ual show at the Newark
Showground. Twizzle and I were very honoured to join your
team and it was
a great opportunity to demonstrate how dog training to your favourite
tune can
be fun and rewarding.
Many
thanks to Carol Wallace who spent the day in Hackleton, Northamptonshire, as
the guest instructor in heelwork to music. Fresh from her judging
appointment at Crufts this year, Carol concentrated on the little dogs and
spent the morning sharing her knowledge of the smaller breeds. In the
afternoon, she watched and reviewed individual heelwork to music/freestyle
routines. The music played and we all strut our stuff to appreciative applause!
Thanks again Carol for pointing so many of us in the right direction and being
so encouraging and constructive! Annette and Mary Ann want you to
come back again soon!

Thank you to Jenny Deakin who
invited me and my young parti-poodle, Twizzle, to demonstrate
heelwork to
music as part of the Paws N Music team for The Kennel Club
“Dog Activities” at
Crufts this year. Heelwork to music, also known as doggy dancing, is a
choreographed programme of canine tricks and eye-catching moves set to
music. “Dog Activities” at
Crufts aims to encourage and enthuse the
public to get the best from their dogs, whatever breed, mix or size, by
participating in the many opportunities offered by the Kennel Club of
which
heelwork to music is just one. Twizzle and I danced
to “Across the
Great Divide” by The Band and were available druring the day
to talk to visitors,
provide further heelwork to music information and demonstrate different
training techniques. We had a blast and it was a great
opportunity to
spread the word - training your dog is fun!
Many
thanks to all who
put their best paw forward and came along to the two photo shoots in
August and
October this year for my two forthcoming books on doggy danicing and
smart
tricks for dogs. You were all stars!
Congratulations
to
Amanda Brophy and Kas, the Springer Spaniel, for qualifying for the
Dogs in Need Starters Final proving that Kas is well and truly
recovered from her injury last year and ready to test herself against
the best in agility! And well done for acquitting
yourself so well on the day!
Congratulations
to
Pete Alliot and Sunny the collie for winning his class at the
Kennel Club International and progressing to grade 2! Julie
and Ember better watch out! You're nipping at their heels!
I am pleased to
report that the Canine Charity Morning was a great success!
There was a little bit of rain and a little
bit of mud but a great deal of fun. And
a grand total of £300.00 was raised for the Maxicare,
an appeal
launched by
Animals in Need (Northampton) to take care of stray and unwanted
dogs. Many people in agility compete with a
re-homed dog from Maxicare so it was no surprise that this organization
had the
most votes when the charity nominations were counted!
Thank you to
everyone who helped set up the fencing and equipment the day before the
event
or who arrived early on the morning to erect gazebos and more
fencing. A special thanks to the judges who made sure
all the games and competitions ran smoothly and to the many sponsors
who
generously contributed prizes and vouchers.
No one went home empty handed.

Competition (sponsored

Many thanks to

delight or such loud applause for our performance!
Congratulations
to
Beccy Garner and Milo for winning both grade one large agility and
jumping classes at Leamington Show! They were great rounds
and what a way to start the agility season!
My thanks to
Joanne Less from Discovery Network Europe for the
invitation to appear with Frostie on the Animal Planet stand at Crufts
this year to help promote the Top Dog program. We had a great
time being part of your team and enjoyed meeting so many
people and making new friends!
Many thanks to
Joao and Gloria San and the Clube de Agility "Os
Caogurus" for inviting me to Lisbon to present a clicker training
week-end. The handlers and dogs were so friendly and eager to
learn new things. I have made new friends and it was a
pleasure and priviledge to teach them how to click and
treat! Thank you also for looking after me so well
and introducing me to everything Portuguese, especially Baba de
Camelo!!!
Congratulations
to Amanda Brophy and her Cavalier Spaniel, Jacob, for
winning Starter's Agility at the Spalding Show. Jacob is
gaining strength and speed each time he goes into the ring and at this
rate he is going to give all the medium dogs a run for their money next
year!
Congratulations
to Julie Alliott and Ember for winning the Arden Grange
Final at Paws in the Park! What a way to end the
season!
Many thanks to
everyone who gave up their time to come and pose for the
photo shoot last week. You and your dogs looked
beautiful!!! The photos will be used as decorative
or explanatory elements throughout the agility book that I have just
finished writing. Special thanks to Tony Medcalfe of Ridducks
Agility in Essex for providing the venue.
Congratulations
to
Lesley Wells and her rescue dog, Barney, for qualifying for the DARL

September. Barney is a real star and deserves all the
frankfurter he can eat!

James! We are all looking forward to meeting your new

giving!

to Pete Alliot and his border collie Sunny for going clear for the very
first time! Keep working and it won't be the last!

is
paying dividends and I look forward to seeing Barney in the lime light
more often!

to Julie Alliot and Ember for winning Starters Agility
at the Kennel Club Agility Festival. Ember is learning how to
strut her stuff and you aren't far behind!

team-mates Angela Sallis with Ollie, Amanda Spinx with
Twix and Lorraine Drew with Ted from Mary Ann with
Daz.
Congratualtions
to Julie Alliot and her collie Ember for qualifying out
of Elementary twice in the same day at Empingham Agility

Congratulations
to
Amanda Brophy and her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Jacob, for winning
Elementary Jumping at Empingham on Saturday. What stars you
both are! Jacob is switched on and ready to give you a few
more surprises yet, so keep him going!
Well done to all
those dogs competing in the Animal Planet "Top Dog"
heats! Don't miss Frostie strutting her stuff for the judges
when the program is aired this winter. Frostie finished her
heat in second place - after being in poll position most of the day,
she succumbed to Mr. Hog's sausages! It was an action packed,
fun filled day and my thanks go to Shauna Lowry for inviting me to take
part. Special congratulations to Hazel Bew with Tizzy
(Frostie's Mum) for winning her heat and going on to the
